| What is Automatic Meter Reading? Automatic meter reading, or AMR, is the technology of automatically collecting data from water meter or energy metering devices (water, gas, electric) and transferring that data to a central database for billing and/or analyzing. Previously, PAWSD was limited by snowfall in its ability to read meters during winter months. Now, meters will be read remotely year round each month. PAWSD continues to advise customers to keep their meter lids clear of snow to allow for pit access.
