About PAWSD

Pagosa Water and Sanitation District is a quasi-municipal corporation and a political subdivision of the State of Colorado originally formed in 1971 and reorganized as the Pagosa Area Water and Sanitation District in 1977.  The District encompasses approximately 76 square miles in the San Juan Mountains of southwestern Colorado, and includes within its boundaries the Town of Pagosa Springs and unincorporated areas of Archuleta County.  The District’s total 2006 certified assessed valuation is $178,592,709.

The sources of revenue to the District include; Systems fees including user charges, capital investment/water resource fees, availability of service charges, connection fees and taxes.  The current Capital Investment Fee as of April 11, 2006 is structured to allow growth to pay its way as our community looks toward the future to the year 2040.
