Ready for Water

Substantial completion was achieved on the Dutton Ditch Pipeline Project in the fall of 2006 with this facility ready to operate its first full year in 2007. This project which took over a year to complete will allow the District to divert raw water, when water rights allow, to storage reservoirs at lower elevations. These reservoirs are an important part of the District's Drought Managment Plan.  During the summer months when typically water rights are out of priority and water can't be diverted, these reservoirs will be managed in a way as to maximize storage, minimize evaporative losses, and keep the District more drought resistant.Shown in the photo to the left at the Four Mile Creek Diversion Structure from left to right are, Board member Harold Slavinski, Secretary/Treasurer Windsor Chacey, and Board President/Chairman Karen Wessels as they inspect the finished product.

In November of 2006 substantial progress was made when the design of the enlarged dam at Stevens Reservoir passed a critical design test. In December, a Request for Qualifications went out to prequalify contractors for the anticipated construction of the reservoir enlargement next summer. Other construction activities currently include installation of water and sewer main lines in the Chris Mountain II subdivision, and upgrading of water lines in the Snowball-Four Mile Road, Second Street, and Cameo Court areas as well as improvement work at the Hatcher Water Treatment Plant. Start up of this facility is anticipated in March of 2007
