Board Awards Highlands Lagoon Elimination Project Bid
At their September 9, 2009 Regular meeting, the PAWSD Board of Directors voted unanimously in favor of awarding the bid for the first phase of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) – funded Highlands Lagoon Elimination Project to Triad Western Constructors, Inc. in the amount of $3,524,189. Triad Western is based in Cortez, Colorado.
Triad Western submitted the lowest of six bids received by the District, which ranged from their low bid amount to $6,523,073.00. Verbal conversations with representatives of Triad Western indicated that upon receipt of Notice of Award, the firm would work with local firm Hart Construction to subcontract certain sections of the project, thus keeping much of the stimulus funding for this project in the local community.
A groundbreaking ceremony and reception will take place for this project on September 30, 2009, with construction to begin immediately thereafter. The project is scheduled for completion November, 2011.
The two other components of the project, a secondary centrifuge and biosolids beneficial use, will be put out to bid later this month.
