PAWSD has installed a lift station and an 8” forced main which will connect to an existing lift station. A lift station is an in-ground, watertight concrete or plastic chamber with one or more sewage effluent pumps. They are needed to discharge effluent from a lower elevation to a higher elevation en route to the waste water treatment plant. The Park Avenue lift station will redirect wastewater flows in order to redistribute the load on the existing system.
All sewer line work was completed in September 2008, and installation of the lift station - excavation and installation of concrete chambers- was completed in December. The State approved the project in December and after electricity was supplied to the station in January, the new line and lift station were operational. With the early spring runoff in late February, this was good news for the District!
